Texas Strikes First

With the season only a couple games old the Texas Muddobbers made the first huge International signing of the season. The Muddobbers have signed 19 year old pitcher William Kondou from Osaka, JP. Kondou signs with the Muddobbers with a 3 year 981,000 contract with a 15 million dollar signing bonus. Kondou appears headed to the Muddobbers ML team in time as possibly the teams closer. We contacted manager lilcoch about this signing and this is what he had to say.

Tell us what you liked about Kondou to make the signing ?
I liked everything about Kondou.

============================================

Is there anything that made you think twice about signing Kondou as the bidding war went on ?
Not really, after waiting all last season for a great prospect and not landing one. I was ging all out for this one.

=============================================
What scout found Kondou ?
Santiago Rodriguez

==============================================
When do you expect him to make his ML debut ?
I would say 2 seasons from now

==============================================

Do you expect him to live up to the 15 million he got in a signing bonus ?

I think so, I think he will be my closer for a longtime.

===============================================

Does Kondou have a place with the Muddobbers forever or could you see him being traded in time ?

I won't say forever, I would have to great offer to trade

===============================================

We thank manager lilcoch for his time in answering our questions and wish him luck with his new pitcher.

Season 8 set to get going.

Now that spring training is over and teams prepare to start the season. Lets take a crack at predicting the playoff teams of season 8.

AL Playoff Teams

AL South = Little Rock Pebbles (1)

AL East = Philadelphia Eagles (2)

AL West = Arizona Big Like a Can of Pepsi (3)

AL North = Pawtucket Punishers (4)

Wild Card = New Orleans Rising Sun (5)

Wild Card = New York Donkey Show (6)

NL Playoff Teams

NL East = Hartford Whalers (1)

NL North = Milwaukee Beasts (2)

NL South = Texas Muddobbers (3)

NL West = LA / or Vancouver (4) both teams score the same in ranking process

Wild Card = Cincinnati Suds (5)

Wild Card = Chicago Black Sox (6)

At the end of the season we will look back on these predictions to see how well my predictions are. Rankings show some close races coming up in season 8. The NL west should be the closet of the 8 divisions according to my prediction. Only time will tell so LETS PLAY BALL

Top 10 Free Agent Signings

Now that free agency is over and spring training has begun its a good time to take a look at the top 10 free agents signings of season 8. So without further ado here is my top 10 list starting at number 10.

10

Alvin Flynn
Monterrey
Churros
Age: 29B/T: R/R
Born: Davenport, IA
Position(s): DH/CIF/2B/COF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
DH Alvin Flynn who signed with the Monterrey Churros. Should help in drive in some runs for the Monterrey Churros. The 29 year Flynn pros are has some power, and hits both lefties and righties well, he also has a decent glove to allow him to play in the field. However one con that sticks out in Flynn's game is his contact rating making him a slight risk of going down on strikes alot during the season.

9

Jerry Bird
Texas
Muddobbers
Age: 29B/T: S/R
Born: Ogallala, NE
Position(s): P (ClA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
P Jerry Bird who signed with the Texas Muddobbers. Should help pick up some innings coming out of the Muddobbers bullpen. The 29 year old Bird pros are he does well getting both lefties and righties out, he also has some good speed on his pitches, and keeps the ball on the ground which keeps the ball in the park. Bird does come with some risk with his control. The control problem could result in loss of innings and putting more runners on base in late innings.

8

Ryan Johnson
San Diego
PADRES
Age: 28B/T: S/L
Born: Fresno, CA
Position(s): P (SP5)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
P Ryan Johnson who signed with the San Diego PADRES looks to fill in as the number 5 starter in the rotation. The 28 year old Johnson pros are he has good control, decent speed on his pitches, and keeps the ball on the ground alot. His cons are he could struggle vs both lefties and righties if the defense doesn't help him by getting to more of the ground balls he should serve up.

7

Junior Mercado
Texas
Muddobbers
Age: 29B/T: S/R
Born: Eldorado Culican, MX
Position(s): P (T4A)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
P Junior Mercado who signed with the Texas Muddobbers will probably be seen in the Muddobbers starting rotation. The 29 year old Mercado looks to be a well rounded pitcher with no real glarring issue of concern.

6

Luis Beltre
Milwaukee
Beasts
Age: 33B/T: S/R
Born: Fantino, DO
Position(s): P (T2A)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
P Luis Beltre who signed with the Milwaukee Beasts will probably be in the Beasts starting rotation. The 33 year old Beltre pros are he has decent control, he does well at getting both lefties and righties out, and has decent speed on his pitches. His cons are has a tendency to allow hitters that make contact to get the ball in the air which could result in some unwanted HR.

5

Matty Reyes
Monterrey
Churros
Age: 32B/T: R/R
Born: Jicome Esperanza, DO
Position(s): CF/IF/OF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
CF Matty Reyes who signed with the Monterrey Churros will look to roam the outfield in Monterrey. The 32 year old Reyes pros are he has good power, and should hit both lefties and rigties well, and has a good eye to draw some walks. Reyes cons are he lacks in contact, and lacks in speed. I would bet he doesn't assume the leadoff role if he makes the everyday lineup in Monterrey.

4

Stuart Griffin
Arizona
Big Like a Can Pepsi
Age: 30B/T: L/L
Born: Bridgeport, CT
Position(s): CF/OF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
CF Stuart Griffin who signed with the Arizona Big Like a Can Pepsi looks to roam CF in Arizona and maybe hit leadoff. The 30 year old Griffin pros are he has decent power, hits lefties and righties well, and has a great eye, and great speed which should make him a good leadoff hitter option. Griffin cons is his contact which could have heading back to the dugout more often then he would like.

3

Walt Harris
Cincinnati
Suds
Age: 28B/T: R/R
Born: Immokalee, FL
Position(s): 1B/COF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
LF Walt Harris who signed with the Cincinnati Suds looks to be already awarded the 1B job in Cininnati. The 28 year old Harris looks to be an all around hitter with power we could see him batting in the 3 or 4 spot in Cincinnati.

2

Donald Suzuki
Syracuse
Civil Suitors
Age: 32B/T: R/R
Born: Hyogo, JP
Position(s): C/IF/OF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
C Donald Suzuki who signed with the Syracuse Civil Suitors looks to be behind the plate for the Civil Suitors. The 32 year old Suzuki pros are all around good hitter with average power. His only glarring con is his pitch calling skills which could force the Civil Suitors into playing him at 1B to get his bat into the lineup.

1

Vladimir Duran
Arizona
Big Like a Can Pepsi
Age: 29B/T: R/R
Born: St. Croix, VI
Position(s): SS/IF/OF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile
SS Vladimir Duran who signed with the Arizona Big Like a Can Pepsi looks to sure up the middle of in the infield in Arizona. The 29 year old Duran has good ratings in every aspect you would want in a SS. The only problem the Arizona franchise may wish for his that his glove would be a little better, but all in all he has to bloster there lineup and defense.
